Is to keep the Northwest athletic marketing department from phasing out the cartoon Bobby the Bearcat logo. They ARE NOT phasing out the mascot bobby in any way. Help save 91 years of tradition join the cause.
Our Mission
Savebobby.com is about preserving a tradition and allowing the students and alumni to use the Bobby the Bearcat cartoon in a tasteful fashion that will not give a bad name or image to Northwest Missouri State University.
This site is a non-profit campaign to show support for the cartoon Bobby. All photos have been donated to us with the photographers permission.
State of the Bobby Union
Ok everybody, here’s the deal. Since there about 3 of us actually running the ship, we’re going to need your help.
First of all, if you want the official Save Bobby t-shirt email s267253@nwmissouri.edu and put “Save Bobby T Shirt” in the subject line. Virgil (who you’re emailing) will let you know where he will be and how to order them. They will be $10 and you MUST pre-pay to get one. Checks are allowed, cash is preferred, and NO credit or debit cards can be taken. Make sure to bring your Driver’s License with you, because we will be giving out receipts. All sales will be kept track of because every penny of profit from the sales of these shirts will be donated. No one, we repeat, NO ONE is making a profit from them. There will be a very limited number of these shirts at first (Homecoming) due to our time constraints. We’re hoping to have about 80 of them to start out with, but we will be ordering more as they are purchased. They will take 1-2 weeks to get them up to Maryville after Homecoming. We know it sucks, but time is running out!
Next, you might be asking yourself, “Why aren’t we printing them in Maryville?” The fact of the matter is, we want to but due to relationship between the vendors and the University, the vendors in Maryville have been asked to stay out of this matter. Believe me, if we could have printed them in Maryville, we would have in a heart beat. The main point is, we don’t want to cause any trouble to either The Student Body or Jock’s Nitch so we had to go elsewhere. I’m not happy about it either, but I wasn’t the one that asked
them to stay out of it.
Third, The Palms has been gracious enough to do the following: If you are twenty-one (21) years of age AND wearing an official “Save Bobby” t-shirt the night of Homecoming, you will NOT be charged a cover! Again, this is ONLY if you are both A.) 21or older and B.) wearing the OFFICIAL Save Bobby shirt. Anyone over 19 years of age is allowed in, but 19 & 20 year olds, We are sorry but you won’t get in for free. If you’re over 21 and not wearing the t-shirt then guess what – you’re paying a cover. No fakes either!!
Last, as you read at the top, there are really only 3 of us running this campaign to save our mascot’s cartoon logo’s tradition… this is where we need your help: Any and all help would be greatly appreciated! The three of us behind the web site are living in Kansas City so that means we’ve only got one guy in Maryville helping us, and we’re not asking him to do it all, trust us, he’s already done more than enough! What we’re asking is to pool your resources together… your friends, family, Alumni, the community, anybody and spread the word. If you all would just walk around and talk about it, it’ll be known. If you have any free time that you can help us with t-shirts, be it telling people where to go and who to talk to, who to email etc., it would help! Yell it around campus for all we care! The more the merrier and the word spreads! The more people we amass, the greater of a voice we have. Any time and resources you have will be greatly appreciated!!
On a personal note, we want to thank each and every single one of you that has helped in trying to save this logo. There has been a variation of it on campus for 91 years and by helping us, you’re helping yourself to preserve YOUR school’s pride, tradition and history.
